I see the 'abortion' debate is heating up again in the U.S. Despite innumerable unsuccessful attempts to thwart the Supreme Court decision Roe vs Wade whereby 'abortion' was deemed legal, the ideologues from the 'religious and conservative right' are now trying backdoor methods to challenge and over-rule a woman's right to choose. It is the 21st century - grow-up. Back street butchers and secretive medical personnel will always provide the service and women will never be denied abortions whether legal or not. The Christian soldiers who slither out from under their predominately republican rocks who shield themselves, hidden inside the rusty armour of hypocracy and 'god', are again attempting to force their tainted views upon anyone who disagrees. Small government has always been the battle cry of the right and has been a slogan winning them many seats in various political institutions in the realm of American politics.
Now, from sea to sea the anti-abortion sycaphants are trying new political tricks to deny women their right to manage their own bodies and lives. These measures include but are not limited to restricting all kinds of government funding under the guise of 'saving federal and state funds. These 'slight of hand' attempts have escalated in their intensity into direct religious commentary, limits to a woman's medical privacy, eliminating a woman's rights to choose by requiring absurd procedures and timelines designed to 'run out the clock' and most insideously, are hidden amongst the verbiage of poorly written "private members bills'. In fact, the movement to destroy women's rights is, to a larger extent, reminiscent of practices of other faiths such as Islam. In essence, the 'anti-abortion' movement is simply a reaction by those who glue themselves to a dogma which they interpret from a misguided or deliberately preverted interpretation of the bible. They do, in fact, quote the bible whenever convenient to suit their intentions at any given time and at every opportunity. It does not matter what they scream and march about they constantly quote and misquote the same statements with the intention of supporting their ever restrictive points of view. Unbelievably, they even quote the same articles to justify differing wants depending upon their cause at the time. While (ha ha) fighting for limited government they really want government intervention in people's lives.Their demand for restrictive government intervention into the private business between a doctor and his female patient is as regressive and archiac as the beliefs they spout. Inevitably, they want government spies in the doctor's office, in the lab and in the operating room. Who will pay for the added staff, survellience equipment, paperwork and who will 'oversee' the program. This is an attack on all women in the U.S. It turns the clock back to times when women required a husbands permission and places women back into the shadows of society.
Who then will pay for all of the unwanted children? Who will take on the responsibility for parenting and paying for the birth, growth, development, education and life of all these new citizens? Will all of you who have jumped on the anti-abortion bandwagon adopt, parent, support, provide for each and every child who was not aborted. If so, I recommend a national database paid for by each any every one of you. Of course there must be a central base that controlls the new federal/state/county departments complete with the required 'storm troopers' to police the 'no-abortion' laws. As well new laws and punishments will have to be created all of which will cost money not to mention the hiring of judges, staff and all costs associated with courts and jails and police departments and enforcement officers. Each of you who chooses to deny women the right to do what they want with their bodies must be marked and duly recorded with the government (at your cost) as 'providers for the unwanted' .
Abortion is not a man's issue, it is not a man's business and men should stay out of the discussion unless asked otherwise by the woman on an individual case basis. Any man who believes he has a 'right' to comment on or make decisions for women should crawl back into the past where he belongs with Cro-Magnon, dinosaurs and Dodo birds. We all know where they ended up.
